Book Review – ‘Greater’ – by Steven Furtick

I recently finished reading the book ‘Greater’ by Steven Furtick from Elevation Church.

I had started this book a few times only to get interrupted part way though, so this time I made a conscious effort to read it from start to finish without starting any other books in between. I can say I am so glad that I did, it is such and encouraging and inspirational book to read! I think I also finally read it at the right time for me as it has spurred me on to start smaller and tackle my bigger goals piece by piece!

I love how easily this book flows! It challenges you to think deeper and bigger but to start smaller right where you are. I truly believe that if we all start right where we are with the things that we have we can make the small changes in our lives that will eventually build up to the bigger ones we want to accomplish!

I think so often we get caught up in the day to day living of our lives and in the things that we are not so good at that we often fail to see the things that God has planted in our hearts, the things He wants us to cultivate into something more. ‘

I know for myself I have had dreams and goals for a long time that just seem to big or near impossible to achieve so I keep putting them on the back burner for an ‘easier’ time in life, sadly I don’t think that there will come this supposed ‘easier’ season. I think God is calling us to step out in faith with the big things He has planted in us but in small manageable steps.

For me I have a couple of big writing dreams but I know that looking at the big picture is terrifying, but if I break it down into small manageable pieces, such as making sure I write on my blog twice a week and keep writing behind the scenes every few days on my other projects then they will slowly become less daunting and I will be able to look back and see all that I have achieved through God’s guiding.

This is the second book by Steven Furtick that I have read, I have also read ‘Sun Stand Still’ and I found them both to be the right mix of challenging and enjoyable!
