What is a spirit of excellence? How do we define it? Is my definition of a ‘spirit of excellence’ going to be the same as yours?
We are all wired differently. We do, see and feel things differently. We are not created to be the same or to think the same. This is a good thing. Life would be pretty boring and robotic if we all did life the same.
So a ‘spirit of excellence’, to me this is pursuing anything we do in life head on with an unwavering sense of importance. We need to regain control of our lives and the paths we choose to take.
I believe God calls us to excel in the things he has placed in our lives. Some seasons are full of fun and enjoyment and other seasons are hard work.
“Desire is the key to motivation, but it’s determination and commitment to an unrelenting pursuit of your goal — a commitment to excellence — that will enable you to attain the success you seek”. – Mario Andretti
This quote is packed with powerful words like desire, motivation, determination and commitment. It is the actions that go alongside these words that will enable us to pursue a life full of excellence.
Are we willing to put the effort and hard work in that is required to see a goal fulfilled? Do we have the determination and commitment needed to attain the success we so deeply desire?
I don’t have all the answers and there are plenty of others out there who have done countless hours of research on these topics. But one thing I do know that if it is a God given desire and goal then the only thing that will stand in my way is ‘me’. I am the only one who is capable of fulfilling my goals, no one else can do it for me. No one else can have a spirit of excellence for the things I am destined to complete.
I have to be willing to put the hard work in, the long hours, to keep going when I want to quit. I am the only one who can look back and see how far I have come and how much my determination and commitment has grown the closer I get to a goal or dream.
Of course I believe God is with me every step of the way. I don’t believe God gives us visions and dreams then takes a seat while we try to complete them. I believe He requires us to work and remain committed but to also remain prayerful. To stay in constant relationship and communication with Him. I think He takes joy in watching His children succeed!
Blessings to you all xx
